Visual Motor Learning (VML) is a proprietary program by Supportive Steps that enhances and supplements Applied Skills Training (AST). It’s a parent- and caregiver-centered intervention designed to teach appropriate replacement behaviors in a personalized, engaging way.
VML is built around custom video content created with input from families. Using preferred characters, music, and key response prompts, the videos model positive behaviors and provide clear, repeatable examples for individuals to watch and practice.
By combining familiar media with structured prompts, VML makes learning more motivating and relatable. This approach strengthens behavior change, supports skill development, and gives families effective tools they can use to encourage growth at home and in daily life.
Please reach us at info@supportivestepsservices.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
VML can be used to teach a wide range of skills, from communication and social interaction to daily routines and self-management. Because each video is customized, the program targets the specific replacement behaviors that matter most for your child.
Parents and caregivers help choose the characters, music, and prompts that their child responds to best. This ensures each video feels familiar and engaging, making it easier for the child to connect with the content and practice the modeled behaviors.
VML is designed to be a collaborative process. Families play a key role in identifying goals and helping guide video creation. This involvement makes the program more effective and gives parents practical tools they can use to support their child at home.
